Crime in Colchester – a Guest Post by Essex Eye.

essex-eyeThere is little doubt that traditional crime has fallen over recent years and Colchester is no different from anywhere else, in that respect.
Unfortunately, recent media coverage can distort the reality of living within the Borough and promote a fear of crime which may be unjustified.
The probability of anyone becoming a victim of crime is dependant on many things, their age, lifestyle and where they live, to name but a few. The majority of victims are in the age group 16 – 24, whose lifestyle offers opportunities for crimes to be committed against them. As most crime is opportunistic, more crime is committed in areas where there is a higher population density, either a resident population or a group bought together by a common attraction…
